The Bill titled Good Samaritan Act 2016" was sponsored by Hon.
Babajimi Benson representing Ikorodu federal constituency of Lagos
State during Thursday plenary session.
The Bill seeks to give citizens the ability to help one another in
emergency situations by rendering emergency care without the worry
of being sued.

Explaining further, Hon. Benson said the bill entails that If an
individual voluntarily and in good faith attempts to provide
assistance to another individual involved in an emergency situation,
such person will not be held liable for any damage that arises from
providing such care.

The Bill specifically applies to any area outside the confines of a
hospital or other facility having appropriate healthcare facilities and
equipment, including the office of a person who practice medicine.
Following the Bill's unanimous adoption by the House, it was therefore
referred to committees on Police Affairs and Justice for further
input.
