US Secretary Of State, Kerry Arrives Nigeria

US Secretary of State, John Kerry, has arrived Nigeria and is presently at the Palace of the Sultan of Sokoto to discuss counter terrorism efforts in Nigeria.

Speaking at the Palace on Tuesday, Kerry said: “We are honored that Secretary Kerry has not only decided to visit Sokoto, but has opted to speak to our young people on dangers posed by intolerance and violent extremism.

“To start with, Nigeria’s relationship with the United States is a glorious one steeped in history and shared values. As President Muhammadu Buhari pointed out during his last trip to Washington, Nigeria values the special relationship it has with the US, and will work closely with it and other allies to develop governance initiatives whose aim is to ensure that Nigeria’s wealth benefits all its people.

“The election that brought the present administration to power has reaffirmed the confidence of all Nigerians in democracy as a system of government. Since coming to power in May 2015, concerted efforts have been put in place by the present administration to improve the competence and forthrightness of Nigerian institutions.

“More than at any moment in our recent history, we are setting credible ground rules for public officials and recovering stolen funds. At the same time, coordinated efforts are being taken to improve healthcare delivery, build critical infrastructure and enhance national integration.

How prostitute robbed USA returnee of his gold chains, wrist watches and phones

A prostitute and an entertainer, both aged 22, who allegedly stole property valued at N1.6 million, on Wednesday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court. The prostitute, Emmanuel Carol and Precious Aboh, who claimed to be into entertainment, are facing a five-count charge bordering on conspiracy, stealing and attempted murder. Wedding Photos Of Five-Week-Old Bride Who Set Self, Husband Ablaze Over Infidelity

Tragedy struck in the ancient city of Kano on Monday when a newly wedded woman set her husband and herself ablaze in Kano over alleged infidelity. The woman was said to have lit a petrol keg in their No 54 Middle Road residence in the Sabon Gari area of the city, which exploded, engulfing herself and the husband. The husband, who did not die on the spot, was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention where he later died, after suffering severe burns from the fire. It was learnt that the woman, accused her husband of infidelity, shortly after she heard a conversation of her husband with an unidentified lady over the telephone. She reportedly got angry and lit a keg of petrol within reach, which eventually exploded and engulfed their home at about 12am on Tuesday. An eyewitness disclosed to our correspondent that the wife, who was burnt beyond recognition, died at the scene of the incident, while her husband also died at an undisclosed hospital, where he was rushed...
