Arsene Wenger Opens Up On Frugal Approach To Spending At Arsenal

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has revealed the reason why he is so cautious in the transfer market.

Wenger who is known for being one of the most prudent football managers, confessed his reluctance to spend money at Arsenal is due to the fact that he treats the club’s transfer budget as if it were his own money.

Although the manager has come under intense criticisms from their supporters, he has always upheld his policies with firm hands.

Wenger disclosed: ‘I personally believe the only way to be a manager is to spend the club’s money as if it were your own, because if you don’t do that you’re susceptible to too many mistakes,’

In recent years, the Gunners boss has changed his ways, spending a little more to sign top stars like Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and lately Granit Xhaka.

‘You make big decisions and I believe you have to act like it’s your own money – like you’re the owner of the club and you can identify completely with the club, because if you don’t do that I think you cannot go far.’ The Frenchman explained.
