Why I Refused To Shake Saraki’s Hand – Remi Tinubu

Senator Oluremi Tinubu, representing Lagos central at the national assembly, has revealed her reason for ignoring the handshake gesture of Senate President Bukola Saraki during the inauguration of the eighth national assembly.

She made this disclosure in an interview with a popular daily, stating that, “I had a private meeting with him for less than an hour. And I had the opportunity to tell him why I didn’t shake his hand after my inauguration as a senator.

“I told him the reason. I said you deprived us from having a swearing-in ceremony. I said that was why I was angry. I said I was angry and that was it. And I have talked to him afterwards. That was the first time I would sit with him in a meeting. I have never had the opportunity.”

Saraki as well as his deputy Ike Ekweremadu have however been under fire over the alleged forgery of Senate standing order used for their election.

The Attorney of the Federation Abubakar Malami dragged Saraki, Ekweremadu, alongside two presiding officers of the Senate to Court as they denied the allegation levelled against them.

The case has been adjourned to September, 2016
