Stop bombings or face spiritual warfare – Cleric tells Avengers

The general overseer of Victory Assembly Ministry (VAM), Bishop Jonathan Eze has warned the Niger Delta militants to stop blowing up oil pipelines or be prepared to face the wrath of God.Ijaw group reject Buhari’s statement, tells him how to fix NigeriaThe Bishop Eze who was reacting to the incessant attacks on oil pipelines by new militant group, the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) on Thursday, July 7, in Owerri said the avengers are incurring the wrath of God by their activities, Vanguard reports.“The Avengers are not fighting a just cause because their activities are affecting and threatening the peace of the nation.“Nigerian oil is a natural gift from God and nobody has the right to destroy it,’’he said.The cleric who is also a UN peace ambassador said if the Avengers were aggrieved over any issue, they should address it in a civil manner rather than threaten the country.He said if the country must remain one, no group should threaten the peaceful existence of the nation in the name of militancy.Eze blamed Niger Delta leaders for allowing the situation to “get out of hand’’We should learn lessons from Niger Delta – Minister“The leaders in the Niger Delta region are to be blamed because they are the people that groomed the militants and they should call them to order.“How can there be governors, senators, traditional rulers and other top government officials from the region; and yet they cannot caution their children from destroying government assets,’’he said.He said spiritual leaders in the country will have to engage the militants in spiritual warfare if they do not stop the bombingsEze however, urged the federal government to take a critical look into theissue and handle it with diplomacy.Meanwhile, the JNDLF is set to destroy up to 10 oil and gas pipelines from Ogboinbiri in Southern Ijaw ofBayelsa state to Obrinkon in Ikwerre LGA of Rivers state — the annoucment was made by the leadership of the group during their meeting in Yenagoa.The militants also warned about the planned attacks on the flow stations of Ogboinbiri, Oporoma, Peremabiri, Tabidaba, Nembe, Brass, Chevron platform in Koluama, Okordia-Zarama and Biseni, including Gbarain-Ubie gas gathering plant.

  Tragedy struck in the ancient city of Kano on Monday when a newly wedded woman set her husband and herself ablaze in Kano over alleged infidelity. The woman was said to have lit a petrol keg in their No 54 Middle Road residence in the Sabon Gari area of the city, which exploded, engulfing herself and the husband. The husband, who did not die on the spot, was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention where he later died, after suffering severe burns from the fire. It was learnt that the woman, accused her husband of infidelity, shortly after she heard a conversation of her husband with an unidentified lady over the telephone. She reportedly got angry and lit a keg of petrol within reach, which eventually exploded and engulfed their home at about 12am on Tuesday.
