An airport in Cristiano Ronaldo’s home city of Funchal will be
renamed after the Real Madrid star.
The 31-year-old captained Portugal to glory at Euro 2016 earlier
this summer and has already unveiled the Hotel Pestana CR7 in
Funchal - the capital of Madeira.
But now the president of Madeira, Miquel Albuquerque, has
confirmed that the former Manchester United forward will be
honoured after Portugal’s Euro 2016 success by having the city’s
airport renamed as ‘Cristiano Ronaldo Airport ’.
Ronaldo is currently on holiday in Ibiza ahead of Real Madrid’s
new season.
The forward has also been pictured wearing a knee brace as he
looks to recover from the injury he suffered in the first half of
the Euro 2016 final against France, which forced him to be
substituted before the break.
